Course Curriculum
Program Description
The Associate of Science Degree
in General Business
is a transfer program. It provides a broad background in various
business administration disciplines. It also prepares students to enter
the field of business management upon completion of the degree.
Objectives
·
To enable students to acquire the general education competencies
expected of an associate of science degree graduate
·
To provide the foundation courses in accounting, economics, and
information systems that will transfer to most baccalaureate degree
programs in business and other majors offered by State public senior
institutions
·
To provide the necessary theory and skills needed to secure employment
immediately upon completion of the program
Expected Learning Outcomes
Students completing the Associate of Science Degree in General Business
will
·
Develop the essential components of a marketing plan
·
Understand the concepts of managerial accounting
Specific Degree
Requirements
Students wishing to earn an Associate of Science degree in General
Business must
·
Complete all required course work in the General Business major (30
hours) with a grade of “C” or higher
·
Complete required economic courses (6 hours) with a grade of “C” or
higher
·
Earn a grade of “C” or better in the general education courses of
English 1010 & 1020, MATH 1100, and Economics 2020 & 2030
·
Earn a minimum of 18 hours in residence at SLCC, including at least 12
of the last 18 hours required for graduation
·
Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on all courses
applied to the degree as well as an adjusted SLCC cumulative
grade point average of 2.0
·
Earn at least one-half of the hours in the major through courses taken
at SLCC
